Ever needed to get rid of duplicate lines or alter a bunch of text data in some way? I used to use a program called DupliFind to do this daily. But, my new favourite website is Text Mechanic. It contains a bunch of tools written in javascript that are free to use. Remove dup content, prefix/suffix every line, case converter and lots more. It can be a bit slow when working with 100’000 lines, but it is ab big improvement on trying to mess with Excel to do tricky text data editing.

I’ve  been a little addicted to birdsong recently – it’s the consequence of living in a city with traffic, concrete buildings and noisy people. I started to notice the absolute lack of birdsong in the morning (though it has been dark and winter for the last 5 months).
